Fairies of Knapwell Wood
Ahhh! The woods look so very special with a sprinkling of Jack Frostiness! Sometimes just the ground is covered in a covering like somebody has dusted it with icing sugar. The fairies, [especially ] love those extra frosty mornings, or, even better a light snow shower, when they gather at the "Crocodile Tree' for slip-sliding down the icy trunk. If the snow is particularly heavy they jump into a cloud-like pillow of powdery soft snow and have to be warmed up with Aunty Mabel's walnut hot chocolate.
The Fairy Theatre is such a special place for the fairies to gather. Every year a team of fairies are chosen to collect seasonal decorations to make the theatre look and feel festive. If you listen very carefully, you may hear them rehearsing for the winter concert, held at the last full moon of December.
Fairy houses are secretive places, often guarded by curled-shell snails. Knapwell Woods are perfect for hiding cosy homes away in the hollows of tree stumps. The fairies use bark, moss, leaves and twigs. Some fairies travel to 'The Meadow' to gather wild flowers for decoration. One fairy who has travelled far and wide to keep the Library of Knowledge up to date, has decorated her home with shells and pebbles.
The woods are a home for many creatures. Some of them can appear a liitle bit intimidating and are alarming to younger fairies. Badgers are probably the most fearsome, although they live in Badger Loop and look more
Welcome to the Fairies of Knapwell Wood. Here you can follow the fairies as they flutter through the year. You can find out about their special places, from tree nooks, to bridges to a well in the woods, out into the brook, flowers and tracks of the meadows.
You could even pop into the fairy shop - you may be inspired to visit your own woods, or even create your own fairy tree, house or theatre!
